Dr. Hiers enlarges and reshapes your breasts with the use of saline implants. Various surgical techniques can be used to place the implants. The actual surgery can be done in a hospital or outpatient facility under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Hiers will discuss all your choices with you. The actual procedure involves placing the implant under the breast tissue or pectoralis muscle. The incisions are made as inconspicuous as possible to reduce visible scarring. The procedure lasts from one to two hours. After the operation, you'll be placed in a dressing or bra for a recommended period of time and must follow specific instructions to help in the healing process. Dr. Hiers has found that breast augmentation usually does not interfere with the ability to nurse a baby. The recovery time varies from approximately one to three weeks.
Dr. Hiers is able to reduce the shape and size of larger breasts that you may feel uncomfortable with and/or may be affecting your health. This procedure is usually performed in a hospital under general anesthesia. Dr. Hiers will discuss the many techniques available and the one best suited to meet your needs and desired results. The actual procedure involves the removal of excess breast tissue, reshaping and lifting the breast, and repositioning the nipples. The procedure lasts two to three hours. After the operation, there may be a possible overnight stay. You'll need to follow specific instructions once you return home to help in the healing process. Recovery time varies from approximately two to six weeks.
If you've had a mastectomy or have never developed breasts, Dr. Hiers is able to help restore this aspect of your femininity. The timing of the reconstruction hinges upon several factors: your age, health status, and after a mastectomy, type of cancer and treatment received. The actual procedure involves various techniques ranging from simple outpatient procedures to complex inpatient procedures. Dr. Hiers can discuss all your options and desired results with you. Other details that Dr. Hiers will review with you include the amount of scar tissue involved, the presence of skin grafts, and radiation exposure. Breast reconstruction is usually covered by insurance and Dr. Hiers office can take care of the paperwork for you.
For the removal of excess fat from virtually any part of the body, Dr. Hiers has successfully performed thousands of liposuction procedures. Liposuction is not normally used for total body weight loss. It is best suited for removing unyielding fat in "problem" areasstomach, hips, buttocks, thighs, inner knees. Dr. Hiers can perform liposuction in the hospital under general anesthesia or in an out-patient facility under local anesthesia. She'll discuss all your options and your preferences with you. The actual procedure involves making an incision and inserting a small tube (cannula) connected to a vacuuming system into the designated area. The fat is "vacuumed" away through this tube. The latest liposuction technique involves the use of "ultrasonic waves" which help break up the fatty tissue so it can be removed more easily. The length of the procedure depends on the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed. After the procedure, you are fitted in tight dressings to help recontour the body. This dressing may be worn from six to eight weeks. Specific instructions should be followed to help in the healing process. You should be able to return to work within one to two weeks.

Wrinkles, fat pockets, and sagging skin on your face and neck can be diminished with the help of a face lift. The various methods used depend on your health and physical characteristics. Facelifts can be performed in either the hospital or out-patient facilities under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Hiers will discuss which options are best for you. The procedure is performed on one side of the face and then on the other side. Usually, an incision is made inside the hairline at the temples, continues down in front of the ear, then around the earlobe, behind the ear and into the scalp. Sagging muscles are tightened in the face and neck, and excess fat is removed. Then the connective tissues are tightened by lifting the skin up and back. Any excess skin is also removed. The procedure can last from two to four hours. After surgery a dressing is applied to the head and neck and may be worn for one or two days. Scar lines from the incision usually follow the hairline and natural creases in the skin. They become less noticeable over time. You can return home the same or following day. Dr. Hiers gives specific instructions to help in the healing process which can last for approximately two weeks.
